The Archos was the only one in this price range that offered good CPU, decent GPU and nice screen with acceptable quality.
You can read here and there some criticism about the finishing of this device, such as cheap plastic etc. However I find it much stiffer than most competitors. It actually feels solid compared to the Samsung ones for instance. It's much lighter than the iPad 2, costs less.
I was recently looking for a tablet for myself and tried a couple ones again. Since my dad was super happy with his Archos 101 I decided I would go with it as well.
I received this tablet last week and have been using it for about 25 hours since. The more I use it, the more I LOVE IT, As a user I can play HD movies on my TV thanks to the HDMI output. I have a 120GB external HD on which I have all my library and I was very happy could pay movies directly from the same drive I share with my other Macs and PCs.
Used with a keyboard and thanks to its leg this tablet turns into a computer you can use on your desktop seriously. The missing applications are Acrobat, Photoshop and MS Office so far but it looks like some alternatives (including Photoshop express) are available on the market place. BTW as soon as you receive the tablet, update the firmware and install Arctools to have full access to the Android market.
As a developer I love remote debugging and its dual-boot capability. I don't know if all Android devices can do that, but I can tell you that this one can run Arm Linux !
For $340, this is the way to go...

This version of the ARCHOS 101 offers an internal 16 GB memory, which can be expanded using microSD memory cards up to 32 GB in size.
